what I saw at the dvd's?
well,, i watched this movie coz i read the echos
everywhere..people talked a lot about this movie..
Poppy (Sally Hawkins) is a life-loving, irrepressibly cheerful, Pollyanna-type primary school teacher who is thirty years old, single, and infinitely optimistic and accepting. She lives with her best friend and flatmate Zoe (Alexis Zegerman) in London. She is annoying at times and her childish attitude attracts many people towards her. She is tested by a repressed driving instructor with anger problems (Eddie Marsan), and tests him in turn. She has exciting flamenco lessons, an encounter with a homeless man, a row with her pregnant sister, and a love-affair with the social worker guiding one of her students.walau awalnya agak ngebingungin..tapi ketika nonton film ini untuk kedua kalinya, baru deh i got the point.and i think this character, remember, began her existence as a series of doodles and scribbles on one of Mike Leigh's hard-working notepads, probably many years ago, although more than likely inspired by real-life friends or acquaintances.
Poppy has much to be happy about. A true friend, with whom she shares a not-too-shabby flat in a Finsbury Park that I shall not stoop to comparing with the district of my own experience. A job she was born to do, among supportive colleagues. An enjoyable social life, memories of travels past, a cool reetro bike (for a while, at least ... ) and a wardrobe straight out of (ahem!) an Australian's nightmare all go to emphasise the message given by the film's title.
last word from me??
If you go by bike, remember to lock up securely or - better still - maybe your best friend will take you along in her "mad" yellow car.
happy watching!!
